Over the next 6th and 7th of October, more than 60 athletes are expected to participate in the Groms Trophy, a surfing competition dedicated to Northern training layers.
Young surfers compete in five categories (U12, U14, U16, U18 and U18 for women) at Praia Internacional do Porto, where there will also be a Sponsor Village with attractions for the whole family.
Organized by Onda Pura, in collaboration with Associação Onda do Norte (AON), the Groms Trophy will heat up the first weekend of October of the “Porto & Matosinhos Wave Series” by putting young talents from the north to the test.
Registration is open until 6 pm on the 5th of October and has a cost of €10 per category.
In addition to the championship, the venue will be animated by a Sponsor Village, with free entry, offering street food, various activities and entertainment for the family, such as air bungee, inflatables and health screenings with the Hospital de Santa Maria – Porto .
The Groms Trophy is part of the "Porto & Matosinhos Wave Series" which started in April and which already has more than 500 athletes in an edition that promotes different sports, including surf championships, bodyboard, stand up padlle, adapted surf and workshops .
Onda Pura – Event Production in collaboration with AON – Associação Onda do Norte and the Municipal Councils of Porto and Matosinhos are the organizers of this event, which has the institutional support of the Portuguese Federation of Surfing and Tourism of Porto and North of Portugal and of the Parish Council of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira. With the official sponsorship of the Crédito Agrícola Group and 58 Surf, and with the support of Vitalis, Sumersby, Hospital de Santa Maria – Porto, MEO, Solinca, Somersby, Ramirez Conservas, Pizza Hut, Be Stronger, Edifício Transparente and media coverage of WGC, Surf Total, Beachcam, and Fuel TV.
