SURF & RESCUE: FIGUEIRA DA FOZ CONTINUES THE 2ND EDITION OF TRAINING IN SURF AND WATER RESCUE



Next Tuesday, September 21, Cabedelo beach will receive the initiative launched by the Association of Surfing Schools of Portugal (AESDP) and the Institute of Rescue for Castaways (ISN), which combines surfing with water rescue.


This second edition of the “Surf & Rescue” project, which brings together the Portuguese Surf School Association (AESDP) and the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN), began in July, with visits to Ovar and Ilha da Wood. Surf & Rescue resumed this week with a successful action at Arrifana beach. Now, it will be Figueira da Foz's turn to receive this unique training, which reinforces the role of Surf Schools in supporting aquatic rescue, thus aiming to reinforce safety on Portuguese beaches throughout the year.


The participation of surfers and Surf Coaches in rescues and rescues at sea is an increasingly present reality in Portugal and this project contributes to empowering those on the front lines throughout the year, the Surf Schools, at the highest level. recent rescue techniques, first aid and Basic Life Support.


Surf & Rescue had its debut last year, now approaching its 7th action, marking another stage of the 2nd edition, which intends to reach other parts of the country this year.


This initiative will take place, on the 21st of September, at Cabedelo beach, in Figueira da Foz. Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Figueira da Foz, this action will not have any cost for the participants.


This free training lasts 7 hours and allocates 1.4 Credit Units for the renewal of IPDJ Coaches' Notes. Due to the constraints imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the actions are limited to a total of 30 participants, with places still available.
