After the success of the first edition of training in surfing and water rescue, on October 16, Cabo do Mundo beach will receive the second Surf & Rescue action in the municipality of Matosinhos.
The 2nd edition of Surf & Rescue, which already had training in Ovar, Machico, Aljezur and Figueira da Foz, now returns to Matosinhos, where it had already been present in 2020. The action, which has the support of the Municipality of Matosinhos , will take place on the 16th of October, at Cabo do Mundo beach.
Started in 2020, the Portuguese Surf School Association project, carried out in partnership with ISN – Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos, has already had the possibility of training more than 150 people in surfing and water rescue, from coaches, students to practitioners of the modality. With the end of the bathing season and at a time when the participation of surfers in rescues and rescues at sea is an increasingly present reality in Portugal, the objective of the action is to be able to equip, at the level of the latest rescue techniques, first aid and Basic Life Support, who are at the forefront throughout the year.
The Surf & Rescue training is free, is intended for the entire surfing community and lasts for 7 hours. For the coaches who carry out the action, 1.4 credit units will be awarded for the renewal of the IPDJ coach card. It is also important to mention that the action has a maximum capacity of 30 participants and the minimum age to participate is 16 years old.
